We know many people have dietary restrictions that go beyond preference. Every year CHI does it’s best to support everyone it can from halal to vegan from lacto-ovo to gluten free and even very specific allergies. It’s always a challenge as many venues just can’t support everything. This year, with lunchboxes† for sale, we’re doing all we can to meet as many dietary requests as possible.
For gluten free, the CCIB (our conference center) says it’s gluten-free items (snacks at the break and lunchboxes) are all < 20ppm gluten. That said, if your allergy is very specific, you should know they do not have a distinct gluten-free kitchen and there may be some cross contamination. We have reached out to everyone who ordered a gluten-free lunchbox and if the CCIB’s kitchen is not adequate they can get refunded.
For those attendees who require 100% gluten-free contamination (or other restrictions that the center could not accommodate), outside food for dietary requirements (from a restaurant or other sources) will be allowed into the venue. CHI 2026 negotiated with the CCIB to allow for this exception and it is the only outside food that will be allowed into the venue. To help aid your search, the Associació Celíacs de Catalunya has a map of accredited gluten-free establishments and discusses their certification process. Further information on government mandated allergens/sensitivities information is also available at the Catalan Food Safety Agency’s website.
Our local chairs suggest eating at local restaurants, but if you need delivery to the CCIB, you may also explore those options. But do note, you’ll have to pick up curb side or in the lobby as delivery drivers are not allowed into the conference areas. Some delivery options include but are not limited to: Glovo, Uber Eats, and Just Eat. As always, you’ll need to exercise your own requirements and judgment with delivery as well since they may be delivering food from many restaurants at the same time.
