Last year, we opened a call for volunteers to help organize CHI 2026. The community stepped forward and we received over 300 applications. In the candidate pool there was a good mix of researchers globally from the new to the established. Each applicant told us for which role they wanted to volunteer and shared their background and experience. And what was really great is to read how passionate and caring each of them were and how they envisioned building the conference and community. We want to thank each of you for your input.
Currently, the General Chairs (GCs) or Technical Program Chairs (TPCs) have extended invitations to the organizing committee and are finalizing the roster. We won’t close the candidate list until everyone is confirmed, as we may still pull from the candidates for alternatives. The CHI Conference is run through academic service and volunteering; so thank you all for volunteering!
But wait, we still have a lot of roles to fill! The TPCs will be recruiting Subcommittee Chairs and Area Chairs for the papers program. The Student Mentoring Chairs will be looking for experienced mentors. The GCs will be looking for student volunteers. And, of course, we always need expert reviewers across the whole program. There’s a lot ahead and more opportunities to help! Stay tuned to this blog and follow us.
Looking forward to working with many of you and seeing you all in Barcelona.
