Congratulations again on having your paper accepted at CHI2026!
This is about your paper presentations (if you are not the presenting author, but a co-author in an accepted paper to be presented on-site, forward this information to the presenting authors).
This year, we have an exciting and extensive program, with record numbers of papers accepted for oral presentation. While you might have done presentations at CHI (and the presentation format has not changed compared to the CHI 2025’s on-site talks), you should read these instructions carefully to ensure a great presentation experience and abide by the presentation format:
- On-site presenters: The time slot for each presentation is 10 minutes for presentations and 2 minutes for Q&A, and there will be a maximum number of 7 presentations in a 90-minute session. There will be an HDMI cable to connect to a project. Please ensure you bring an HDMI adapter to connect to a projector.
- Video-only presenters (people who do not attend on-site due to extenuating circumstances): As announced in our call for papers, CHI 2026 has no hybrid or remote attendance. Yet, authors who are unable to travel may request to submit a pre-recorded, captioned video to be played for the in-person audience on a set of screens dedicated to video presentations (if you haven’t done this, contact us now). This talk is also 10 minutes (no Q&A). As indicated, since your original paper acceptance, you need to edit your “Attendance Type” in your “Edit Final Submission” in PCS to indicate “video attendance,” and you need to email the TPC at tpc@chi2026.acm.org—only by doing both of these, you will be sent the registration code for video-presentations. Submitting this talk is mandatory for video presenters (i.e., not on-site presenters), and it will be featured in the CHI app (PWA).
Here are the instructions for the presentation:
- Before an in-person presentation, please use the CHI app (PWA) to double-check the time/date and the name and location of the room and session you are presenting at.
- Arrive (at least) 20 min before the session starts, check in with your session chair, and test your presentation and laptop, leaving plenty of time to fix any issues that arise.
- For an in-person presentation, you will use your own laptop to connect to a projector via HDMI. Please ensure you bring an HDMI adapter.
(As a final backup: We strongly recommend that you have a copy of your presentation on a USB drive as a backup, so that in case of problems, we can hand that to another presenter/session chair.) - Also, there is a dedicated system in each room for auto-captioning, and as a speaker, all you need to do is speak into the microphone so the system can pick up and caption your voice.
- For an in-person presentation, you will use your own laptop to connect to a projector via HDMI. Please ensure you bring an HDMI adapter.
- Please finish within your allocated time of 12 minutes, with 10 minutes for the presentation and 2 minutes for Q&A. If you do not stop and use up all the 12 minutes, there will be no time for Q&A, and you will be cut off by the session chair at the 12 minutes to allow the next presenter to set up. Conversely, you can make your talk shorter and benefit from a slightly longer Q&A, e.g., 8 mins of talk + 4 mins Q&A.
- Tip #1: Pay attention to the session chair’s countdown signals, which occur before reaching the 10-minute mark and give you enough time for Q&A.
- Tip #2: you can have more than one presenter, this is rare but can happen at CHI. Note that you should hand over the microphone rapidly since talk time is short.
- Important: if you have accessibility needs during your presentation, please email our chairs at access@chi2026.acm.org now.
We look forward to your presentations at CHI2026. If you have any questions, please let us know via tpc@chi2026.acm.org.
